• Give students a realistic picture of our laws and legal system to invest in
supporting and improving it.
• Teach students how to avoid becoming a victim through self-awareness and
crime prevention.
In addition to the duties that the school resource officers are responsible for, the
members of the S.R.O. unit work within the community in a myriad of different
forums. In 2021 the forums included, but were not limited to, the following:
• Assisting the Cranston Substance Abuse Task Force with their "Sticker Shock"
campaign.
• Assisting the Cranston Substance Abuse Task Force with distributing literature
and supplies regarding COVID-19 regulations and "21 & Over" Tobacco and
Alcohol info.
• Members of the Substance Abuse Task Force executive board. (S.R.O.s Davis &
Denneny)
• Member of Tri-Country Substance Abuse Task Force (S.R.O. Davis)
• Certified A.L.I.C.E instructors
• Distribution of school supplies donated by Wal-Mart.
In years past, the S.R.O.'s were responsible for attending their respective school's
extracurricular activities throughout the school year, including sporting events,
fundraisers, open houses, dances, and graduations. When the Covid-19 Global
Pandemic began, the Cranston Public Schools (C.P.S.) were affected. As the School
Department adjusted to pandemic restrictions, the S.R.O.’s remained flexible and
accommodating to the needs of the students, faculty, staff, and administration.
